CAPTION: Suong and Hang are both on the Board of Directors for Cooperative Huy Tuong II. “We buy animals from farmers, slaughter them and then transport the products to Hanoi to sell”, they explain. “We buy chickens, rice, pork, mushroom and vegetables from our 70 members. Working together like this has helped the farmers to find a good output market”. In 2012, HESDI - We Effect’s implementing partners - established two agricultural service cooperatives, providing training in accounting, marketing, leadership and management to cooperative leaders. One of the key achievements of the project has been the development of an agricultural production value chain network linking local producers to more lucrative and stable markets in Hanoi, bringing mutual benefits to both local producers and end consumers.
