CAPTION: Phuong works with her classmates to weed the vegetable garden. Pupils attending this school come from ten different minority villages, some of which are as many as 30 km away. For many, the only way to get to school is to walk. Those that live too far away for this have no option but to sleep at the school during the week and return to their villages for the weekend. Not only does the vegetable produce provide students with a more varied and nutritious diet throughout the week, it also reduces the school’s food expenditure.
