CAPTION: Abdul Hadi is a community group leader from Wates. He feels that people in his community are more organised and prepared now that the flood early warning system is in place. Not only do they have better access to information, he says, but with the help of radios, they have quicker means for communication as well as disseminating information between communities along the river. If the red level is reached, the early warning system gives households an extra ten to 15 minutes to prepare for possible flooding, time that can prove critical. LOCATION: Wates, Semarang, Indonesia. INDIVIDUAL(S) PHOTOGRAPHED: Abdul Hadi.
