CAPTION: “We didn’t know if the price was good or bad”, says Hue. She still sells her produce to a ‘merchandiser’, a middleman who comes to her house. Previously, he used to dictate prices to her. Hue had limited knowledge of what a fair price was, leaving her vulnerable to exploitation and often causing her to sell her pigs for too little. Since becoming an active member of the Women’s Association, she has been able to gain knowledge on breeding as well as partake in information sharing on prices with other members. Now that Hue knows what a good or bad price is, she’s more confident in negotiating a better amount for her produce. LOCATION: Coong Village, Huy Tuong, Son La Province, Vietnam.
