INDIVIDUAL(S) PHOTOGRAPHED: Nazeer Ali. LOCATION: Abdullah Goth, Shah Latif, Bin Qasim Town, Karachi, Pakistan. CAPTION: Wazeer Ali prepares samosas at his shop in Karachi, Pakistan. Now a father of five children, he started out 20 years ago as a helper at various sweet shops, where he learned how to prepare both sweet and savoury delights. In 2008, he started his own sweet shop from a small corner of a retail space in his neighbourhood. After taking his first microfinancing loan of Rs. 50,000 (£350) from the First Micro Finance Bank (FMFB) in 2014, he was able to extend his shop. Since then, over the course of a few cycles of financing, his earnings have risen from Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 80,000 per month. Now, he has his own house near to the shop, and dreams of one day further extending the business by opening branches in other parts of the city.
